Former WBC light flyweight Brian Viloria wins over Jose Garcia Bernal via 8-round unanimous decision yesterday at Los Angeles, California. Viloria is in control most of the fight and floored Bernal in the final round.

This is a great way for Brian Viloria to start 2008. His previous fights are nothing but boring. He needs more intensity and show to all that he is not yet over in boxing.

Floyd Mayweather Jr retained his WBC title after destroying Ricky Hatton via round 10 TKO.

Both fighters are unbeaten coming into the fight. Floyd Mayweather Jr is considered as one of the best (if not the best) in boxing history while Ricky Hatton is one of the best boxers coming out of England. Both of them wanted to prove that they are the best in this sport. Someone's '0' have to go and that's Hatton!

Nice fight! I enjoyed it a lot :D

Three Filipino boxers who saw action yesterday wins their respective bouts!

IBF flyweight champion Nonito Donaire successfully defended his title against Luis Maldonado via round 8 stoppage. Rey "Boom-Boom" Bautista, completed his 'payback' mission at the Big Dome winning via unanimous decision over Antonio 'Barrio' Meza. This is a great moral booster for 'Boom-Boom' who lost to Daniel Ponce de Leon via first round TKO. Finally, undefeated AJ 'Bazooka' Banal, punished Jovanny Soto and end the game in round 9.

Daryl Peach Wins 2007 Philippine World Pool Championship

Daryl Peach of England wins the 2007 Philippine World Pool Championship after edging Filipino Roberto Gomez (17-15) last night at the Araneta Coliseum.

Peach will take home the grand prize of US$100,000 while Gomez will take the runner-up purse of $40,000.

Gomez had his chances, but he succumb to pressure and emotion missing crucial shots. Still, the result is a great achievement for him and for the Filipino people.

Philippines will once again host this event next year.
