RP-5 Olympic Dream Ended by Jordan

Monday, July 30, 2007

SMC-RP's 2008 Beijing Olympics dream comes to an end last night after a defeat against Jordan (76-84) in the continuation of 2007 FIBA-Asia Mens Championship in Tokushima Japan. Philippines controlled most of the 1st half but Jordan bounce back in the 2nd half and never look back.

There are lots of things which needs to be improved by Team Pilipinas. Most notably is teamwork followed by players selection and a good coaching staffs.

In my opinion, if we really want to succeed in our next attempt in Olympics or in Asian Games, we should have a clear program that will make our team more fit in the international competition.

Iraq Wins Asian Cup Finals

A goal from Iraq's team captain Younis Mahmoud on the 71st-minute is enough to win them their first ever AFC Asian Cup title against 3-time champion Saudi Arabia (1-0).

This is a well-deserved win for Iraq who plays more aggressively and had more clear shots on the goal.

SMC-RP Downs China

SMC-RP Team Pilipinas bounce back from a heart breaking loss last Saturday to beat eliminate defending champion China.

Team Pilipinas Bows to Iran

A late surge by SMC-RP Team Pilipinas cuts the lead of Iran to only 1 point. Iran leads most of the game as high as 15 points. But a technical called against the bench of Team Pilipinas proved to be too fatal as Iran goes on to win their first game in FIBA-Asia Championships in Tokushima Japan.

RP-5 needs to win their last 2 remaining games against China on Sunday and Jordan on Monday to move to the second round.

Pacquiao vs Barrera Rematch Set

Monday, July 2, 2007

It's a done deal! Manny Pacquiao will face Marco Antonio Barrera on their much anticipated rematch on October 6 in Las Vegas Nevada.

Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions and Bob Arum's Top Rank settled their disputes which lead to this mega showdown.

This is very interesting since Barrera obviously want to revenge his humiliating defeat against Pacman and bounce back from his recent loss to Juan Manuel Marquez. For Pacman, this is a morale booster after being knockdown not on the boxing arena but on the political arena by Darlene Custodio.
